While in prison, I was awakened one morning by an eerie cry outside of my window, unlike anything I had ever heard. I couldn't identify the creature by the sound but the emotion was clear, something was in extreme pain. I jumped up and looked out the window. A seagull was trapped in the razor wire that ran along the top of the interior fence. It was flapping its wings frantically trying to break free but the slinky style design of the deadly wire would not release it....

Obstacles are necessary in life. The person who breezes through life with no hiccups, no bumps or bruises are, to me, untested creatures. Anything that has not been tested, cannot be trusted, in my opinion. Victory, for many of us, comes only after countless struggles and many defeats. That goes for any part of life. Struggle builds character. Problems, all problems if faced head on, are opportunities. These were some of the things that ran rampant through my mind the evening of Read Full Post »

If you want to be good at something, you MUST practice. Practice requires repetition. Repetition obligates you to work.

I have always been fascinated with the gunfighters of the old west; the wild wild west. How does a man become comfortable with facing off with other men in a challenge that, if the slightest mistake is made, it could cost him his life? I mean, a lot of mistakes can be made when reaching for your gun, under the pressure of life and death. Maybe it's the str...

CHANCES ARE, each time we learn something new, something old STOPS MAKING SENSE COMPLETELY.

Think about that.

Consider how often we learn, then consider how much of what we practice in life today that will make no sense at all to us in the years to come. BUT SOMEHOW WE SPEAK WITH SUCH SURETY about things we couldn't possibly know...

A WOMAN SAYS TO A MAN, please don't raise your voice at me. I will not tolerate your speaking to me that way. It is offensive and abusive.

THAT SAME WOMAN speaks to this man in a snide tone, rolls her eyes and sucks her teeth throughout the day.

NEWS FLASH. Offense is not measured by the reputation of an action, it is properly measured by the way that action makes a person feels.

Without proper knowledge, one party is set up for abuse w...

If I told you that last year I leapt a tall building (50 stories high), in a single bound, most of you would flat out call me a liar. Common sense alone would not allow you to believe such a tale. COMMON SENSE IS GIVEN TO US BY GOD as a first line of defense against foolery. But lets say I became rich and powerful over the course of a lifetime, and I decided I wanted to change, add or delete, a few things from the Bible. You know, the way King James did in the 1600s with his team of bishops. ...

As men, from many of us today, our initial focus is on a woman's butt. Before we learn her name or even take in her facial features well, we do a quick assessment of her butt.

To get closer to it, if she's worth her weight in gold, we must go through the process of getting to know her, and impressing her. This is where our laziness is exposed as the modern man seems only concerned with the finished product, as if women came off of an assembly line to be bought, taken home, and used.

WHAT BLACK FOLKS HAVE HAD TRAINED OUT OF THEM is the fact that there IS a time to kill.

A creature as humble as a Lamb or dear, God designed a killer for it. It doesn't seem nice but the world is a jungle, and I am not a Lamb.

It is not that we are afraid to take life, because we kill one another every damn day. The problem is, we're afraid to take a life in the image of our slave master, and the lily white image of Jesus that has been burned into our brain. Even when they take on...

My grandmother would always say, "It is impolite to whisper. " She never explained why, she simply enforced it. You weren't allowed to whisper in her house - period.

I believe that was her way of saying that we shouldn't have too much privacy in the world, at least among the people you're suppose to love. To plot on another requires privacy. Evil intentions are nurtured in private places.

Children don't close and lock doors in my house unless it is the bathroom or they need to cha...
